History
Don Bosco School, Tuli is situated at a distance of 29 km from Amguri and 69 km from Mokokchung. In 1977 a group of Past Pupils of St Antony’s, Shillong, met Mgr. Abraham Alangimattathil with the request to open a Don Bosco School at Tuli. But there was strong opposition from the Baptist Church. In 1978 the Bishop approached the Provincial of Guwahati and the Provincial Council approved the new venture to help the extension of the Church in the Ao area. Fr. Tom Karthikapallil began to stay at Tuli from December 1978 in a rented building belonging to Mr. Marthemjen, opposite to the paper-mill office. In December 1978 the school was opened in his private house. Classes began in February 1979 with about 180 students in Nursery, KG I, and Class I.
Today
In 2007, the school is a high school and has over 700 students. Even though the centre is number of years old, from the perspective of evangelization not much headway has been made because of the strong Baptist control.
