History
When the Salesian Philosophate began in May 1982, the students of philosophy were temporarily accommodated in the Good Shepherd Seminary of the Diocese of Kohima. The Salesian community shifted from “Good Shepherd” to the present site on 24th March 1984, and the College was canonically erected on 24th November 1987. The new building was inaugurated on 8th December 1983 by Fr. Tohill Bernard, Councillor for the missions.

The College was officially affiliated to the Nagaland University in 1995 under the name “Salesian College for Higher Education.” With that the College began to admit Sisters and lay students as day scholars besides the Brothers of Good Shepherd and the Salesians.

Today
In 2007 there were 209 students in Salesian College and 15 in the staff. There were 61 Salesians. The college offers honours in English, Philosophy, History

Today, in 2018, there are around 227 students in the college. The college offers honours in English, History, Sociology and Political science.

Activities
Post-novitiate Formation (Studentate of Philosophy and College of Higher Education), Oratory, Pastoral services, Pastoral work and Evangelisation, Village Masses, Village Visits, Youth Groups, Youth Animation, Library Facilities, Computer Centre, Chaplaincies.
