History
Don Bosco School, Kohima, came into existence on 7th February 1971, at the initiative of Fr. Ittiyachen Manjil, the then Parish Priest of Christ King, Kohima. In August 1973, Fr. Payngott Antony was put in charge of the school and began to reside at the school campus. The school was officially recognized by the Board of School Education, Nagaland on 1st March 1975. Don Bosco Youth Centre cum Hostel was blessed by Mgr. Abraham Alangimattathil on 29th October 1994.

In 1995 the school opened Plus Two in Science stream, with the idea of affording an opportunity for higher education to the financially less privileged students. The School celebrated its Silver Jubilee on 16th October 1996. Don Bosco Youth Centre, Kohima was started in 1995. Fr. Kunnel Tom was appointed its first director.

Today
In 2007 there are 1471 students and 35 teachers in Christ King School Kohima. The school is marked by the presence of various tribes of people such as Angamis, Ao, Lothas, Semas, Sangtam, Rengma, Zeliang, Chang, Chakeshang, Konyak, Yamchumger, Mao, etc. In 2007 there are 35 boys in the hostel run by the Salesians. 17 of them are Catholics.

About 500 students come to the Youth Centre every year. The number of boys who come to the Youth Centre is about 60% and the girls 40%. Most of these students are age between 14-35 years old. They come for various programmes such as computer classes, music classes, library, tuition for matric students, games, etc.
