SALESIAN COLLEGE HOSTS 2ND ADIVASI YUVA SAMMILAN


Salesian College of higher education hosted 2nd Adivasi Yuva sammilan in its campus today on 14th July 2019. The programme saw around 350 adivasi youths from the Singrijan, Checkiye A, Chekiye B, Lahorijan, Burma Camp, Borlengrijan, Lengrijan and Khatkhatti villages in Dimapur and the neigbouring dimapur, participating in a day long programme. The programme kick started around 09.30 a.m. The programme  is as follows: Welcome Song, Encouraging Welcome Address by Fr Avay, the Deputy director of Salesian College, Prayer song, Lighting of the lamp, Prayer dance by Lahorijan village, motivating speech by Youth Director of Salesian College: Fr. Christudoss A., Felicitation, presentation, Song, theme song and talks by the teachers of the schools: Sir. Benedict, Sir, Nathaniel and Sir. Clement. After this there was the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Jonas Kerketta sdb, the Media Incharge of  Salesian Province  of Dimapur. Then , they broke off for sumptuous lunch prepared for the occasion. The afternoon programme resumed at 2.30 p.m. with the motivating talk by  Fr. C. D. Mathai sdb, Vice-principal and the dean of Salesian College of Higher Education. It was followed by cultural dances by various adivasi oratories: Lahorijan, Lengrijan, Khatkhatti,Borlengri, Burma camp, Chekiye, Singrijan, Garobasti, Chetranolla. The programme came to an end with the Adivasi common dance with the solemn prayer blessing. Everyone departed with the lingering memories of soulful day.
