DIMAPUR HOSTS PROVINCE LEVEL BICENTENARY CELEBRATIONS


                The Province level Bicentenary celebration of Don Bosco’s birth took off with a colourful ceremony at Don Bosco Higher Sec. School, Dimapur at 6.00 pm on 23rd October 2015. The Chief Guest for the Inaugural Ceremony was Shri.  H. Atokhe Aye, Administrator, Dimapur Municipal Council, Dimapur.

          Fr. Philip Magh, the Principal of Holy Cross HSS Dimapur led the congregation in a devout prayer to draw down God’s blessings on the celebration just beginning. Further, the students of St. Mary’s HSS, Padampukhri mesmerized the audience with the smooth playing of the Bicentenary  band. After that, Rev. Fr. C. T. Varghese sdb, the Rector and the Administrator of DBHSS, Dimapur warmly welcomed everyone to the three day long celebrations. DBHSS, Dimapur put everyone on a festive mood with their harmonious singing of tribute to Don Bosco.  Rev. Fr. Nestor Guria sdb, the Provincial  and the President of the Bicentenary  celebrations  mentioned some of the special  characterestics of Don Bosco, such as: Giving priority to God,  being honest, learning the tricks and magic to draw the youth closer to God, loved to be with the youth. After that, the brass band group of St. Mary’s  padampukhri played the tune of Indian national Anthem melodiously with precision.

                 After that, there followed the message from the chief guest, shri. Atokhe aye, the Administrator of  Dimapur Municipal Council  who, in his speech, underscored the importance of Salesian family as well-accepted in Nagaland. He, further, lauded their immense contribution in the field of education. He appealed to the youth to imitate Don Bosco.

                In his vote of thanks, Rev. Fr. Joshua Gangmei sdb, the Principal of DBHSS, Dimapur, thanked the dignitaries for their presence and the youth for their performance. He wholeheartedly expressed his gratitude to all who contributed for the success of the inaugural programme.

               The Choreography that followed after the inaugural function inspired everyone with their scintillating performance. In his message, Dr. Stephen Kamson (IRMS)  and the Province level President of Don Bosco Alumni highly appreciated the Don Bosco way of education with four dimensions of Educational Pastoral plan. He invited everyone warmly to be the living monuments of Don Bosco, instead putting up merely his statues. Thereafter, the brothers of Salesian College led them to prayer and singing to conclude the day with thanksgiving to God through video clippings. After the night prayer, there followed the good night talk by Rev. Fr. Bosco Perianayagam, the Vice – provincial who  highlighted the importance of being happy as the youth are loved by Don Bosco, wanted by their families and the society. He encouraged to be joyful and walk steadily through life’s path in studies, getting the job, occupying dignified places in the society and to serve others with love which is only way to receive blessings from God and favour from people. The whole celebration came to a memorable halt with the lingering memories of the soulful evening.
